  • I'm still kind of irked about the whole "terrorism" aspect of it all. I know it. It seems like every 2 minutes they are mentioning the involvement of the Department of Homeland Security. We don't need black suits on the watch for conspicuous persons, we need burly guys with big cranes...

  • Sounds good Ben, let us know what you find. I'm just sick of watching it on TV. You are so desensitized to the entirety of a situation when they shrink it down to a 2 foot box with looping cut scenes. I'd like to see more citizen journalism on what's happening.

  • Even so, they wouldn't have started structural construction on it this year, so we'd still have a collapsed bridge on our hands.

  • I think he just means that someone wasn't doing their job: either the engineers who inspected it or the officials who overlooked data. Not that I agree, just clarifying what I think he mean. Either way, I'm sure this will all be looked into in the oncoming months.

  • No matter what, it should have been inspected prior to the construction. Obviously the construction and bottlenecked traffic is going to put strain on the bridge, so why not inspect to make sure it can handle it before firing up the first jackhammer.
